Moving tomorrow - need help!

  • Nov. 30th, 2008 at 10:06 AM
me 2009
Since today's weather is WET - my moving plans have had to be altered unfortunately. I am not thrilled about this, but it's probably better I move in better, drier conditions so nobody (including myself) gets injured.  This also means that some people who could help me today cannot help me tomorrow.

That said, there are still 2 people who can help tomorrow.  Matt (bartender at Fluid) and his truck are still available until 5pm tomorrow.  Robert can also still help, but I'd rather have more muscle so the move is quicker, less laborious on me/them.

At least 1 other person helping load (in West Philly) and 1 other person helping to unload (in South Philly would be ideal. I honestly don't have much but the extra muscle would ensure efficiency. Again, I'm not moving a house - just some bedroom stuff (twin bed, desk, dresser, shelf) and a few boxes/bags.

In addition to Matt's truck, I have reserved a cargo van from U-Haul that I will pick up sometime tomorrow morning- depending on when/where they tell me to pick it up naturally.  I think it's possible I can move a good bit of stuff tomorrow.  Just need the extra hands.

If
you happen to have another day off or working later in the day or can spare just 30 minutes of your time after work hours between 5-7pm - I'd really appreciate any extra help.  I am not only asking, but I am begging for help.

I will gladly pay you a little something for your efforts.
So if you want a little extra spending money for the holidays - get in touch!  732-693-7058

Daniel Craig
I'll ask here.

Does anybody on my friends list here want to do something friendly like go to a movie together?  I have a speaking gig this Sunday which I still need to prepare for, BUT I really, really want to see the new Bond flick "Quantum of Solace" this weekend, too, and I really, really don't want to go alone.  I hate movie theatres in general, I get claustrophobic, but it's usually easier when someone is there with me.

Anybody up for it tomorrow afternoon @ Riverview?!  I want to go to the Prop 8 protest @ Dilworth Plaza, then go to the movie after.  Call/email/comment here if you're down with it.

Tonight!

Click for the Craigslist ad.

If you are interested you MUST come to Matawan to pick it up - I will accept CASH ONLY! $200 or best offer! This must go - I need money to help offset costs of moving. I move THIS SUNDAY!

I do not have a digital camera, but this image is the same exact love seat.

If you or someone you know are interested, please let me know. Send me a message here or call 732-693-7058 ASAP.
Serious replies please!

Moving Sunday!

me 2009
I may need a hand or two in Matawan to help me load the truck on Sunday morning. I reserved a 10' truck.
It will be fun to drive the truck and keep my cat relaxed at the same time during the drive! So if anybody can tag along for the ride, by all means, let me know!  I'll have no problem driving the truck, but the cat will need someone to talk to him to soothe him.  He's a typical cat, does not like to be in moving vehicles.

I will also need some soothing as well.  :(

I also may need some extra hands in West Philly unloading the truck. I will post again if that is the case.

Any help would be appreciated!

Since Kate and I will be living together again and we are foodies, I wanted us to do something fun together - so we've started a food blog called Philly Grub.  Feel free to visit often, subscribe via email or RSS, or add the syndicated feed to your LJ.

We've also started a companion social network that is becoming quite popular already!  It's not even a week old and there are 36 members.

Thanks to some awesome connections, we're going to be interviewed by KYW this Friday for a podcast about Philly Grub.

Yay!

So fucking hot!

I've been a fan of Christian's since The Velvet Goldmine!

Heath should get the Oscar - very convincing and well played.

That's all I will say.

I want to go see the movie again.

Regeneration Tour

  • Apr. 10th, 2008 at 4:51 PM
i love 80s
OMG!!!!!!!! I'm so going to the Trenton show!
------
Music fans, prepare your Aqua Net. The '80s are making a comeback with this summer's inaugural "Regeneration Tour" featuring Human League, Belinda Carlisle, ABC, Dead or Alive, A Flock of Seagulls and Naked Eyes.

The trek is set to roll out Aug. 1 in Phoenix, AZ, and travel from the West Coast to the East Coast through the end of the month. Dead or Alive is scheduled to appear through Aug. 11 and A Flock of Seagulls will pick up from there. The itinerary is listed below, although more shows may be added, according to a press release.

Organizers promise to rekindle those "feel-good '80s memories" with new wave and pop hits including "Don't You Want Me Baby?" (Human League), "Heaven is a Place on Earth" (Carlisle), "When Smokey Sings" (ABC), "You Spin Me Round" (Dead or Alive), "Always Something There to Remind Me" (Naked Eyes) and "I Ran" (A Flock of Seagulls).

Though some of the performers haven't been in the limelight for quite some time, others have continued to tour and release new music. The Human League celebrated its 30th anniversary last year by playing its best-selling album, "Dare!," live all over Europe, and the band is currently writing new material, according to its bio.

Also in 2007, Go-Go's vocalist Carlisle offered up "Voila," a French-language album marking her first solo release in a decade.

ABC original member Martin Fry resurrected the group's name in 1997 and continues to tour. He and bandmate David Palmer are currently working on a new ABC album scheduled for release this year, according to the band's bio.

Naked Eyes, who also continue to tour, released the 10-song acoustic set "Fumbling With the Covers" last year, and frontman Pete Byrne is currently recording tracks for a new electronic album, "Piccadilly," due later this year.

Starbucks Pike Place Roast

  • Apr. 9th, 2008 at 1:38 PM
me 2009
I'm by no means a fan of Starbucks coffee. I'm not a frequent patron, but once in a while, especially if it the only coffee around, I will partake in their caffeinated offerings. For some reason, when they announced a new blend of coffee, Pike Place Roast, my interest was piqued. So I dropped into the local Starbucks (less than a mile from where I live) this morning to get some.

Verdict: it's not half bad. It doesn't have that signature burned taste that most Starbucks coffee has. It's still a darker, stronger coffee, but seems less bitter than their other brews. I daresay, I kind of enjoyed it! Will I frequent Starbucks more often as a result? Have I discovered my new favorite coffee? Nah. It certainly didn't sweep me off my feet. But it's good to know there is actually a (generic) coffee they offer that I can actually tolerate.

Macaroni & Soy Cheeze?!

  • Mar. 26th, 2008 at 1:18 PM

I can't tell you the last time I had real macaroni & cheese. This quintessential comfort food has been off my food list for quite some time -- thanks to the "joys" of lactose-intolerance! There are times I just want to break down and eat it just to taste the lusciousness of real cheese again! But I know what it does to me, so I resist that urge.

While I was strolling through the "health food/organic" section of the local megamart, I saw Amy's Macaroni & Soy Cheeze. It was the answers to my lactose-challenged dreams!

Guess what? Besides for being really thick in consistency - then again isn't GOOD mac n cheese supposed to be thick and gooey? - it's not half bad. In fact, I think lactose tolerant folks would probably find it quite edible.

I'm a happy, macaroni and soy cheeze filled camper!

Chris was supposed to be off tonight. He just called to say that he has to go in now because somebody called out and also because Heath Ledger died and that's probably going to be front page news.

It's on CNN as breaking news now, as well as TMZ.

Windows Live Writer is da bomb, yo

  • Nov. 13th, 2007 at 9:00 PM
me 2009

I often do a lot of research on blogging and marketing and new toys and trinkets in the Web 2.0 world.  It's mostly for my own knowledge and enjoyment, however I do use a lot of that knowledge in my jobbie job, too.

So I stumbled upon this free-standing blog editor called Windows Live Writer.  It's actually pretty darn cool.  You can update your Wordpress, LJ, and Blogger accounts all in one place (if you have multiple blog accounts anyway)!

Here's a cool feature I just found out how to use... adding bird's eye view maps!!

This is the train station in Matawan.

I'm easily amused. :)

OK time for HOUSE MD!
